Legal resources for European jurisdictions

Printed resources

The Upper or Gallery Floor  is where you will find legal materials from, and commentary about the laws/legal systems of, the independent  continental, European countries. The constituent nations of the United Kingdom are shelved on the main Reading Room floor.

The countries are arranged in an alphabetical sequence - by their English names.

The holdings of each country follows the same basic pattern: legislation/codes are shelved first, then series of court reports, then journals, then legal dictitionaries - finally monographs and textbooks.

Naturally there is variation in the strength of holdings - this guide is designed to point you to the electronic resources which may be able to supplement what we have.

Our strongest jurisdictions have special guides of their own - please select from the list below.

At the end of the list are links to related areas of study.
